Wood, paper and board products are made from a natural and renewable resource: the forest. The European Forest based sector is environmentally responsible and managing Europe's forest garantees biodiversity.
Europe's forests are increasing, and maintaining healthy forests produces benefits for society. Furthermore responsibly managed forests provide an inherently sustainable resource. The European corrugated board industry supports voluntary forest certification systems, a tool to ensure that wood comes from sustainably managed forests.
Paper and board products are the most commonly used materials for recycling. Paper based packaging is 100% recyclable in most cases, becoming new paper again and again. It is an essential resource for the industry as it represents a raw material source. It is estimated that about 80% of corrugated packaging is collected and recycled.

Corrugated is made of a natural and renewable raw material, 100% recyclable and fully biodegradable. The European corrugated industry is one of the few to reach the target set by the European Directive on packaging & packaging waste, and even took a step further by helping develop a voluntary standard guaranteeing a recovery rate of over 66% by 2010.
